Nike unveils England and Nigerian world cup kits

Nike unveiled two of its team kits months ahead of the 21st edition of the FIFA World Cup 2018 tournament, taking place June. The kits of both countries reveal clear evidence of hints from historic kits blended with a tourch of “modern fashion and culture”

England’s kits

Nike unveiled home and away kits together with a collection of matching tracksuits.

Both kits feature the Saint George’s cross on the outer back neck, while a rosette is located on the inside.

A custom typeface based on Johnston and Gil Sans fonts was designed for player names, and numbers have been moved from the centre of the shirt to below the crest to make the fabric more breathable. The home kit shows a classic look, pairing a white shirt with blue shorts – both accented by red trimming.

Nigeria’s Football kit

The home kit is based on the shirt worn by Nigeria first team to qualify for the competition in 1994. Feather-inspired patterns feature across the whole shirt – black and white for the sleeves, and green and white for the torso.

Similar pattern is also seen on Nigeria’s pre-match shirt and training apparel. Super Eagles, the team’s nickname, is stretched across the shoulders. The away kit offers a stripped-back version of its home counterpart and is made from a dark green fabric fearing a bright green crest.

Image result for champions league draw

Which teams are in the draw for the last 16?

Group A – Manchester United, Basel

Group B – Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich

Group C – Roma, Chelsea

Group D – Barcelona, Juventus

Group E – Liverpool, Sevilla

Group F – Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk

Group G – Besiktas, Porto

Who can the Premier league sides face?

It is a record breaking year for premier league sides as all five teams have made to the last sixteen. In the champions league round of 16 it is not possible for teams to play against the teams they faced in the group stages so a team like Manchester United cannot be drawn to play against Basel. Also, it is not possible for teams to play against other teams from the same country or competition as them so a team like Chelsea cannot be drawn to play against Manchester Cty, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Chelsea: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, or Besiktas.

Manchester United: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, or Porto.

Manchester City: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Real Madrid, Sevilla, or Porto.

Tottenham: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto.

Liverpool: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto.

After a busy midweek of premier league fixtures with wins for Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Burnley, Liverpool, Everton and Leicester City we have yet another weekend of heart-racing fixtures as Arsenal and Man United meet.

Chelsea v Newcastle

Chelsea’s performance against a good defensive Swansea side on Wednesday wasn’t as great as expected but they still managed to take home all three points. Newcastle on the other hand did well against West Brom and were able to pick up a point.

Newcastle are going to be dancing to a different tune at Stamford Bridge compared to their midweek game against West Brom. With the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Christian Atsu and Paul Dummett still likely to be unavailable for Newcastle, Chelsea on the other hand are likely to start Eden Hazard and Azpilicueta who started on the bench on Wednesday though David Luiz, Michy Batshuayi, Charly Musonda and Kenedy might stay unavailable due to injury.

With Eden Hazard Chelsea are a more challenging side to play against and I think Rafael Benitez’ return to Stamford Bridge is going to end up with Chelsea winning 3-0

Brighton v Liverpool

Liverpool who outplayed and defeated Stoke during the week with a great performance now look forward to visit Brighton who ended up with a goalless match against Crystal Palace. Brighton have been defending very deep and causing teams problems this season but I don’t see them doing much to stop firing Mohamed Salah and his team this Saturday. With Manchester United as Liverpool’s next opponent they will try to win this game and keep their confidence going. Considering how well Brighton defend Liverpool will find it hard to throw in many goals so I am going for a 0-2

Everton v Huddersfield

After exceptional Wayne Rooney fired Everton to a win against West Ham, their new manager Sam Allardyce will try his best tactically to keep the confidence at Everton. Looking at Hudersfield’s poor away performance this season with no goals in their last four away results, I am giving Everton home advantage here and going for 2-0

Leicester City v Burnley

Burnley have been performing well this season and causing teams problems and they worked hard for their win against Bournemouth during the week. Leicester are another team you can only count on on a very good day and after their win against Spurs I expect them to do well against Burnley. Going for 2-1

Stoke v Swansea

This is going to be a big game for both clubs and they are both going to fight for the win but I don’t see Stoke losing to Swansea at home especially at a time when Swansea are struggling to score goals. I am going for  1-0 in favour of Stoke

Watford v Tottenham

Watford started the game against Manchester United by playing well and causing problems but Man United showed some technicality and landed some good goals into the net. Though Spurs’ performance in the league has been shocking recently, I think they are going to ride through this one with a victory but Mauricio Pochettino needs to make the right decisions if he wants his side to win. Although Watford have had some good performances this season I see the match going in a similar way as their midweek game against Man United. I am going for 1-2

West Brom v Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have been out of luck this season and I see this game being a tough one for them as they face their former manager Alan Pardew who will definitely put in his best to win his first match in charge of West Brom. Crystal Palace are a better side going forward and I am going with my intincts here. 0-1

Arsenal v Manchester United

Arsenel have been gunning their way in the league and have been exceptionally good at home. Though they play without their forward Alexandre Lacazette who picked up an injury during their midweek game I don’t see Man United causing them much trouble at home. 2-1

Sunday  Fixtures

Bournemouth v Southampton

Both teams had disappointing midweek results but I think Southamptom did well to stop Manchester City scoring many goals and they are going to go against Bournemouth with a more attacking mindset. But I see points being shared here 2-2

Manchester City v West Ham

Honestly I don’t think any team would be looking forward to play against Man City with the ruthless form they are currently in. Though teams like Huddersfield and Southampton caused Man City problems they still managed to win at the end. I don’t see anything else than West Ham getting hammered by City on sunday . 4-0

My Premier League predictions

football

With busy fixtures lined up for Tuesday and Wednesday sure you will be trying to figure out the chances of your favourite team winning be it for a bet or just the norm of being a football fan. Well! here are my thoughts and possible predictions.

Brighton v Crystal Palace

Over the weekend Brighton put up a brilliant performance against Manchester United and were just unlucky at the end. Palace on the other hand were able to fight to the end and secured a late winner against Stoke. Will both teams maintain that form? Well! I can see it being a tough game with both sides fighting to win but I will risk this by making Brighton favourites. I am going for a 1-1 draw

Leicester City v Tottenham

Though Spurs have been good away this season, I see this being a tough game for them and I am going with a 1-1 draw

Watford v Man United

United have been very fortunate in their last few games but I don’t see them having much luck against a brilliant Watford side. Going for 1-0 in favour of Watford

West Brom v Newcastle

Newcastle have been in poor form and I see West Brom who fought hard against spurs taking advantage of this. Going for a 2-1 West Brom win

Wednesday Games

Arsenal v Huddersfield

Though Huddersfield make life difficult for clubs at home they’ve not been very brilliant away. With Arsenal having home advantage I am going with a 2-0 Arsenal win

Bournemouth v Burnley

Bournemouth have been trying to makeup for their poor start this season and I don’t see Burnley who were unlucky against Arsenal over the weekend stopping them. Going for a 2-0 win in favour of Bournemouth

Chelsea v Swansea

Chelsea did not have an easy ride against Liverpool over the weekend but they still had moments of brilliants. I don’t see Swansea coping too well with a brilliant Eden Hazard a very technical Alvaro Morata on a good day. Going for a 4-0 Chesea win

Everton v West Ham

Everton have been struggling in every aspect and I don’t see them having much luck on Wednesday but I am going with a 1-1 draw

Manchester City v Southampton

Man City are in a very brilliant form this season and I don’t see a not very exceptional Southampton side slowing them down. So I am going for a 3-0 City win.

That’s all my predictions for the midweek fixtures. Why not challenge me by sharing your own thoughts and predictions in the comment section.

Welcome to my first blog (smiles)

As a passionate football fan I have created this site to start sharing my thoughts on football with a host of you lovely football lovers around the world. My blogs will focus on English premier league (yeah! my favourite), Champions league (another favourite when my club qualifies), football competitions  from African and European countries and a little gist on other league competitions like Scottish Premiership, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, France Ligue 1,League 2, Europa league and…….yeah! all the rest (sure you get me).  I will be sharing with you my pre-match thoughts and possible predictions and my post match analysis. If you’ve noticed the name of this blog “be that team, be that guy” (such a cool name though) and wondered the reasons behind the name…. At the end of each weekly competitions from one league I will pick a team and a player who in my opinion had the most outstanding performance hence, “be that team, be that guy”.

With unbeaten Manchester City sitting fearlessly at the top of English premier league, champions league in full swing, Messi haven signed a new contract with Barcelona, Neymar the most expensive player pairing up wonderfully with Kylian Mbappe in PSG, January transfer window around the corner and the World Cup almost here, there will definitely be a lot for us to talk about.

Excited and looking forward to get inspired through your comments (SMILE)
